Hello everyone!
Today, I thought I’d tell you about mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), another weed one can find almost anywhere, whilst still having many useful properties! I even saw one growing on my way to the gym today, in Bow!
What is it?
Mugwort is a herb that grows everywhere in the UK. It has green leaves that are white underneath and sometimes a bit hairy. Half of the plant is covered in these leaves, half of it with flower buds.
What is it used for?
Mugwort is said to have many uses. It can treat cardiovascular problems, feelings of unease, malaise, unwellness, abnormal bleeding, high-grade fever, cold, cough, purging the stomach of impurities, flatulence, bloating. It also expels pinworms in the intestine.
It is also classified as a mild psychoactive drug, however I don’t have experience with this so I can’t comment!
I have picked a bunch and I’m drying it. I will then use for tea making.
Have you ever tried mugwort? Comment and let me know!
Till next time,
Suzie + Ellie
